Samuel Steps into the Time Machine

Published Post author

Samuel’s story hit a snag when “Chuck” moved on to other things, as I had done. She punted the ball, or more aptly the badger back to me. “We started in the middle, and Samuel has a whole life. Why not tell it?” were her parting words. So, why not?

I’ve been writing what will be book one of the Samuel Shinpike series, starting in the park that was his first home. Where he meets his mentor, learns of city life outside the park, and of one of many true monsters in his post-zombie appocalypse world.

Stay tuned.

Samuel’s Been Sleeping

A bit too long, too.  He’s been in a drawer quietly resting – hope the mice didn’t find his manuscript! CD is taking over the stories as I’ve got other irons in the fire. She’s put out the side story on WriteOn, and is getting ready to publish it on Kindle.  She checks in with me every so often, still caretaking a mansion in the mid-states, still with miserable wireless (I told her she’s got an ethernet cable but she can’t be bothered). I have to get back to other endeavors, but will update as I can.

Stuck for an Idea? Watch This TED Video

This is an amazing video. It’s worth the 20 minutes of your time, especially if you’re stuck for an idea or need some inspiration. We’re all wellsprings of stories, and Mac Barnett is giving away buckets worth, so why are the rest of us giving out dixie cups?

Some of John’s ideas aren’t ready for prime-time.  That’s why he has someone else test them out first.

The End of One Gang and “Gramma Nonne”

Finally got the timer set and had about forty minutes to write.  Worked out okay, not sure if I like the content but this is the “vomit on the keyboard” phase. Had to slap my hand more than once to stop myself from fixing typos and rewriting.

Samuel and Lou’s Second City Night

Even in a newly recreated city ghettos appear, and so do gangs. One gang though will not last the night.

I should be keeping track of my time as well. Spent several hours today as the plot thickens and deviates slightly.  Found “Task Timer” Google App which I’ll attempt to run on the netbook while I’m writing on the other.  Glad to have my faster computer back but miss the dual monitors.

A Brief Rest and Lou Reveals his Weakness

Published Post author

Samuel and Lou have had a rest and gotten replenished in mind and body, At least Samuel is rested in mind and body, Lou on the other hand has been reminded of an unsettled score with an antagonist far away that just puts him in a foul mood, despite his full belly and no apparent danger.  Maybe you are what you eat?  He did have a mallard…

19% done.

So far I’m at about 1k words per hour, not pushing hard and having the typical interruptions of a parent whose kids were home all day thanks to the remnants of the nor’easter.  Have to listen back to find out how fast Johnny B. Truant writes.  Then again, maybe not.
